Kierstin Janik – 2023 IBJ HR Impact Award Recipient
An honoree’s breakfast was held on June 23, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis to honor Kierstin Janik as a 2023 HR Impact Award Recipient for her distinguished work within Heritage Construction and Materials over her almost 10-year stretch within the company.
Kierstin and three other women were honored in the HR Stand-Out category. This category excels overall in HR; other categories recognized at the HR Impact Award included Diversity and Inclusion, Talent Recruitment, Employee Experience, and Training and Development.
“As you can imagine, particularly with acquisitions, HR is a really important piece of that and being able to see up organizations on both sides to be successful; If people don’t have success in those transitions, it makes the rest of the change management very difficult. I’m proud to say that my team has supported all those acquisitions that have allowed the kind of growth we’ve had.” – Kierstin Janik, Chief Talent Officer.
We are honored to have such an empathetic leader in Heritage Construction +Materials. Congratulations Kierstin!

Kierstin Janik Receives the IBJ 2023 HR Impact Award
Kierstin Janik, Chief Talent Officer at Heritage Construction + Materials, is a distinguished recipient of the Indiana Business Journal’s 2023 HR Impact Award. The award honors people, programs and companies driving positive change in the human resources industry.
An honorees’ breakfast event will occur on June 23, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis. The event will recognize the achievements of award recipients across five categories: Diversity and Inclusion, Talent Recruitment, Employee Experience, Training and Development and the HR Standout, who excels across all the other areas.
Kierstin, an HR Standout and female leader in a male-dominated heavy civil construction and raw material supply industry, is an empathetic leader who creates opportunities for others to grow in their careers.
An exemplary role model, Kierstin strives to recognize the full potential in others and help them achieve their goals. She upholds standards and continually pushes beyond her comfort zone. Kierstin’s work ethic shines through in company initiatives such as diversity and inclusion, employer brand and workforce development.
HC+M Chief Executive Officer Geoff Dillon said, “I’ve witnessed Kierstin’s approach to life and work firsthand. She is genuinely people-centered and puts a priority on building strong relationships.”
Amy Schumacher, Chief Executive Officer at The Heritage Group, had this to say about Kierstin and her impact both inside and outside of the company: “Living out our company values — as well as her own — Kierstin makes pathways for diversity and inclusion within our workforce, not because it’s the trendy thing to do but because it’s the right thing to do. Beyond our walls, Kierstin is an incredible representative of our industry and our community.”
