United for Service: Tackling Food Insecurity

We believe in the power of giving back. That’s why we are proud to share the impact made during our United for Service week. Over 860 members of our Heritage family came together, dedicating 1,211 hours to tackle food insecurity and celebrate The Heritage Group’s 93rd anniversary.

United for Service week at Heritage Construction + Materials was our chance to lend a helping hand alongside food banks and food-serving organizations from November 13-17. We extended an invitation to every member of our Heritage family to be part of this impactful initiative. This incredible experience brought us together as a true community while allowing us to make a difference in the places we call home.

At HC+M, we understand that creating a better future is more than just construction. It’s about building relationships within our Heritage family and with the communities we serve. United for Service Week allowed us to give back and fostered a sense of belonging and community. Through our shared commitment to making a difference, we formed deeper connections and created lasting partnerships.

Check out some of the photos captured during United for Service Week. These images remind us of the incredible work we accomplished together and our positive impact on the lives of those in need.

History of United for Service:

In 2014, the Fehsenfeld Family Council refocused its family retreats to enhance engagement and community contribution. Together, they determined that the best course of action was to learn and give back as a group. United for Learning and United for Service are the two retreat models the family created. The objective is to get information, learn new skills, and embark on a community service endeavor.

The Heritage Group was established on November 17, so the United for Service dates honor the company’s founding anniversary. John E. Fehsenfeld provided home heating oil in 1930 to address a need in his community during the Great Depression. Since then, the family firm has expanded to include over 30 active businesses, 5,000 workers, 47 states and four continents.

We can make a difference in our communities by coming together through United for Service and helping feed those in need. At Heritage Construction + Materials, we take pride in our size and footprint, allowing us to wield the power to impact others positively. Let’s join hands and put food on families’ tables, one meal at a time because it’s all about building relationships, opportunities and a better tomorrow for everyone.
