US Aggregates Industry News Sustainability

HC+M’s Continued Investment in Its Companies Pays Dividends for US Aggregates

HC+M’s investment in US Aggregates Deer Creek plant has reached a significant milestone. This project, officially the largest capital investment in US Aggregates history, is the first plant to be built brand new from the ground up. It stands as a testament to the substantial resources and commitment that Heritage Construction + Materials pours into its operations.

Located in Cloverdale, Indiana, crews broke ground on the Deer Creek plant in the fall of 2023 and commenced operations on June 14, 2024. A collaboration with Kemper Equipment, MP Baker, Cash Concrete, Turner Contracting and Duke Energy, this modern facility boasts two unique features: comprehensive dust control hoses and the largest horizontal impact crusher for any US Aggregates facility. Adding to the company’s sustainability commitment, the dust control hose system significantly mitigates airborne dust particles – contributing to a more environmentally friendly environment.

The Deer Creek operation, with its cutting-edge equipment, has made a significant shift. It has moved away from relying on renting contractors’ equipment, empowering the site to manage production with greater confidence and efficiency. This marks a new era of self-sufficiency and reliability for the company, setting the stage for continued success and growth, and securing the future for US Aggregates and all HC+M companies.

Deer Creek quarry offers specialty products like scrubber stone used by Duke Energy, high-calcium chemical stone used in industrial minerals and dark red clay derived from the area’s overburden used by the General Shale Brick Company.
